Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Property and Plantation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI added 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Maxis Bhd (KL:MXSC), which rose 3.03% or 0.20 points to trade at 6.79 at the close. Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) added 1.67% or 0.05 points to end at 3.05 and MISC Bhd (KL:MISC) was up 1.46% or 0.12 points to 8.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB), which lost 1.40% or 0.22 points to trade at 15.44 in late trade. Tenaga Nasional Bhd (KL:TENA) declined 1.34% or 0.16 points to end at 11.78 and Genting Bhd (KL:GENT) shed 1.19% or 0.10 points to 8.29.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 276 to 272 and 44 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.23% or 0.10 to $45.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.22% or 0.11 to hit $50.10 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.48% or 5.20 to trade at $1085.50 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.16% to 2.8001, while USD/MYR rose 0.10% to 3.8768.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 98.20.
