Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms & IT, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Caixabank SA (MC:CABK), which rose 1.08% or 0.026 points to trade at 2.440 at the close. Bankinter (MC:BKT) added 0.82% or 0.053 points to end at 6.533 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) was up 0.52% or 0.008 points to 1.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 5.79% or 0.242 points to trade at 3.941 in late trade. Repsol (MC:REP) declined 4.32% or 0.505 points to end at 11.195 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) shed 4.11% or 0.070 points to 1.634.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 154 to 36 and 25 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.76% or 22.40 to $1252.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.98% or 0.47 to hit $47.72 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.19% or 0.58 to trade at $48.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1204, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.7670.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 95.30.
