Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 1.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco BPI (LS:BBPI), which fell 0.09% or 0.0010 points to trade at 1.1270 at the close. J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) fell 0.13% or 0.0200 points to end at 15.7100 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was down 0.14% or 0.0010 points to 0.7020 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR), which lost 4.03% or 0.2760 points to trade at 6.5660 in late trade. EDP (LS:EDP) declined 2.63% or 0.0780 points to end at 2.8930 and Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) shed 2.53% or 0.228 points to 8.784.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 42 to 6 and 3 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for January delivery was down 3.22% or 1.55 to $46.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.28% or 1.53 to hit $45.14 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.55% or 19.95 to trade at $1307.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.1102, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.9021.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 97.33.
