Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Gas & Water, Food and Pharmaceutical Industry sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506), which rose 4.01% or 93.0 points to trade at 2410.0 at the close. Konami Corp. (T:9766) added 3.66% or 200.0 points to end at 5660.0 and SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) was up 3.46% or 64.0 points to 1915.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hino Motors, Ltd. (T:7205), which lost 5.05% or 70.0 points to trade at 1315.0 in late trade. Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) declined 4.73% or 21.0 points to end at 423.0 and NTN Corp. (T:6472) shed 4.37% or 24.0 points to 525.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1531 to 1525 and 330 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 10.01% to 15.05.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.84% or 0.40 to $48.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.78% or 0.39 to hit $50.34 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.26% or 3.38 to trade at $1283.58 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.12% to 110.52, while EUR/JPY fell 0.02% to 124.50.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 96.73.
