Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Rubber, Manufacturing and Steel sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SUMCO Corp. (T:3436), which rose 10.72% or 275.0 points to trade at 2841.0 at the close. Marui Group Co., Ltd. (T:8252) added 6.63% or 116.0 points to end at 1866.0 and Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) was up 4.35% or 33.0 points to 792.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (T:7912), which lost 8.83% or 246.0 points to trade at 2541.0 in late trade. Bridgestone Corp. (T:5108) declined 7.70% or 417.0 points to end at 5000.0 and Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) shed 5.44% or 17.0 points to 295.5.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2034 to 1251 and 210 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 23.19% to 21.25 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.24% or 0.14 to $57.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.27% or 0.17 to hit $63.76 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 3.10 to trade at $1284.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.06% to 113.54, while EUR/JPY rose 0.04% to 132.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.48.
