Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Construction, Glass and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301), which rose 3.46% or 68.0 points to trade at 2033.0 at the close. Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) added 3.17% or 4.0 points to end at 130.0 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) was up 2.57% or 200.0 points to 7983.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ube Industries, Ltd. (T:4208), which lost 3.24% or 90.0 points to trade at 2691.0 in late trade. Rakuten Inc (T:4755) declined 3.02% or 25.8 points to end at 827.7 and Concordia Financial Group Ltd (T:7186) shed 2.48% or 13.0 points to 511.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1804 to 1540 and 253 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.25% to 15.57.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.29% or 0.90 to $70.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.77% or 0.60 to hit $78.75 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.59% or 7.10 to trade at $1199.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.39% to 111.50, while EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 128.95.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 95.47.
