Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Food, Transportation Equipment and Fishery sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (T:9412), which rose 3.21% or 16.0 points to trade at 515.0 at the close. Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) added 2.96% or 22.0 points to end at 765.0 and Terumo Corp. (T:4543) was up 2.29% or 95.0 points to 4245.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IHI Corp. (T:7013), which lost 2.81% or 10.0 points to trade at 346.5 in late trade. Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (T:7270) declined 2.12% or 83.0 points to end at 3828.0 and Konami Corp. (T:9766) shed 2.00% or 120.0 points to 5890.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2033 to 1166 and 268 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.43% to 15.20.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.94% or 0.45 to $47.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $51.97 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.31% or 3.98 to trade at $1301.88 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.19% to 109.16, while EUR/JPY fell 0.08% to 130.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 92.36.
