Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Transport, Services and Non-Metal Minerals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301), which rose 5.83% or 38.0 points to trade at 690.0 at the close. Furukawa Co., Ltd. (T:5715) added 5.05% or 10.0 points to end at 208.0 and Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) was up 4.34% or 121.0 points to 2907.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:9983), which lost 4.56% or 1650.0 points to trade at 34570.0 in late trade. Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) declined 4.50% or 10.9 points to end at 231.3 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) shed 2.59% or 200.0 points to 7515.1.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1895 to 1283 and 291 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.69% to 13.33.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.13% or 0.06 to $46.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $48.39 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.54 to trade at $1217.84 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was unchanged 0.00% to 113.28, while EUR/JPY rose 0.12% to 129.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 95.48.
