Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541), which rose 7.69% or 194.0 points to trade at 2717.0 at the close. CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) added 7.05% or 98.0 points to end at 1489.0 and Nomura Holdings Inc (T:8604) was up 6.82% or 34.4 points to 538.9 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mitsubishi Electric Corp (T:6503), which lost 4.27% or 61.5 points to trade at 1379.0 in late trade. Nichirei Corp. (T:2871) declined 3.58% or 94.0 points to end at 2533.0 and Konica Minolta, Inc. (T:4902) shed 3.15% or 15.0 points to 461.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 3236 to 392 and 143 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 25.22.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.40% or 0.35 to $88.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.31% or 0.28 to hit $89.44 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 0.95 to trade at $1802.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.26% to 114.42, while EUR/JPY fell 0.15% to 129.07.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 96.162.
