Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Insurance and Gas & Water sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which rose 7.46% or 29.0 points to trade at 418.0 at the close. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) added 7.02% or 182.0 points to end at 2773.0 and Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568) was up 4.89% or 200.0 points to 4293.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which lost 4.95% or 5.0 points to trade at 96.0 in late trade. Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) declined 4.41% or 280.0 points to end at 6070.0 and Shimizu Corp. (T:1803) shed 4.24% or 42.0 points to 949.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2013 to 1447 and 206 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.98% to 28.32.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.57% or 0.36 to $62.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.81% or 0.59 to hit $72.58 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 2.20 to trade at $1234.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 113.30, while EUR/JPY rose 0.13% to 129.29.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 96.12.
