Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.74% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770), which rose 8.91% or 120.0 points to trade at 1467.0 at the close. JFE Holdings, Inc. (T:5411) added 7.69% or 63.0 points to end at 882.0 and ANA Holdings Inc (T:9202) was up 7.06% or 183.5 points to 2784.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which lost 4.10% or 19.0 points to trade at 444.0 in late trade. Kikkoman Corp. (T:2801) declined 3.25% or 180.0 points to end at 5360.0 and CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) shed 2.43% or 130.0 points to 5210.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2036 to 1471 and 172 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 27.38.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.23% or 0.46 to $37.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.63% or 0.65 to hit $40.64 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.79% or 13.65 to trade at $1713.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.22% to 109.38, while EUR/JPY rose 0.44% to 124.25.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 96.567.
