Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Banking and Non-Metal Minerals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.63% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taisei Corp. (T:1801), which rose 4.33% or 255.0 points to trade at 6145.0 at the close. Nippon Light Metal Holdings Co. (T:5703) added 3.87% or 13.0 points to end at 349.0 and Softbank Corp. (T:9984) was up 2.99% or 274.5 points to 9453.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NKSJ Holdings, Inc. (T:8630), which lost 4.73% or 214.0 points to trade at 4314.0 in late trade. MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings (T:8725) declined 3.86% or 143.0 points to end at 3562.0 and Marubeni Corp. (T:8002) shed 3.83% or 29.2 points to 732.4.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2231 to 1036 and 226 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.27% to 14.82.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.30% or 0.15 to $49.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.43% or 0.24 to hit $56.03 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 5.09 to trade at $1290.09 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.12% to 112.54, while EUR/JPY rose 0.14% to 132.46.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.35.
