Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Mining and Transportation Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:9064), which rose 5.50% or 123.5 points to trade at 2368.0 at the close. Konami Corp. (T:9766) added 5.44% or 310.0 points to end at 6010.0 and Hitachi Construction Machinery Co (T:6305) was up 4.99% or 147.0 points to 3095.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taisei Corp. (T:1801), which lost 2.02% or 22.0 points to trade at 1067.5 in late trade. Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506) declined 2.01% or 65.0 points to end at 3175.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) shed 1.34% or 7.0 points to 515.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1919 to 1217 and 318 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.75% to 15.74.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.80% or 0.38 to $47.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.86% or 0.45 to hit $52.49 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.13% or 1.72 to trade at $1293.72 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 109.64, while EUR/JPY rose 0.06% to 129.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 93.22.
