Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Warehousing, Mining and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Konami Corp. (TYO:9766), which rose 5.65% or 450.00 points to trade at 8,410.00 at the close. Inpex Corp. (TYO:1605) added 5.64% or 83.00 points to end at 1,555.00 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) was up 5.30% or 450.00 points to 8,940.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (TYO:2502), which lost 10.86% or 509.00 points to trade at 4,177.00 in late trade. Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324) declined 6.16% or 290.00 points to end at 4,415.00 and Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:3103) shed 6.02% or 16.00 points to 250.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1837 to 1698 and 216 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.31% to 26.40.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.26% or 0.29 to $111.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.18% or 0.21 to hit $114.03 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.60% or 10.93 to trade at $1,824.93 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.12% to 129.32, while EUR/JPY rose 0.36% to 135.21.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 103.99.
