Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Textile, Chemical and Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211), which rose 8.98% or 37.50 points to trade at 455.20 at the close. Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) added 4.07% or 220.00 points to end at 5,626.00 and Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (TYO:5706) was up 3.96% or 193.00 points to 5,064.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099), which lost 5.51% or 168.50 points to trade at 2,888.50 in late trade. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) declined 4.76% or 234.00 points to end at 4,681.00 and Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) shed 4.56% or 304.00 points to 6,359.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2087 to 1525 and 255 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.76% to 17.11.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.19% or 0.15 to $80.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.22% or 0.19 to hit $85.14 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.12% or 2.90 to trade at $2,344.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.05% to 157.76, while EUR/JPY fell 0.13% to 169.33.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 104.90.
