Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (T:4021), which rose 3.13% or 170.0 points to trade at 5600.0 at the close. Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233) added 2.78% or 68.0 points to end at 2514.0 and Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) was up 2.67% or 18.0 points to 692.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fujikura Ltd. (T:5803), which lost 3.53% or 11.0 points to trade at 301.0 in late trade. Konica Minolta, Inc. (T:4902) declined 2.71% or 9.0 points to end at 323.0 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107) shed 2.67% or 30.0 points to 1093.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1814 to 1685 and 226 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 21.56.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.71% or 0.30 to $42.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.62% or 0.28 to hit $45.21 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 7.70 to trade at $1954.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.04% to 105.83, while EUR/JPY rose 0.19% to 125.00.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 93.102.
