Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Warehousing and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Daiwa Securities Group Inc. (T:8601), which rose 5.39% or 36.3 points to trade at 709.4 at the close. Nisshin Steel Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5413) added 3.05% or 50.0 points to end at 1689.0 and Nomura Holdings Inc (T:8604) was up 2.74% or 18.0 points to 674.7 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tosoh Corp. (T:4042), which lost 5.30% or 139.0 points to trade at 2482.0 in late trade. Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099) declined 4.01% or 51.0 points to end at 1221.0 and Advantest Corp. (T:6857) shed 3.38% or 82.0 points to 2345.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1864 to 1394 and 233 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 5.37% to 15.70.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.11% or 0.06 to $52.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.19% or 0.11 to hit $58.33 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1279.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.05% to 113.69, while EUR/JPY fell 0.02% to 134.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 93.56.
