Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Banking and Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were TOTO Ltd. (T:5332), which rose 8.98% or 450.0 points to trade at 5460.0 at the close. Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) added 8.70% or 250.0 points to end at 3125.0 and SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) was up 6.88% or 165.0 points to 2562.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which lost 4.88% or 26.0 points to trade at 506.5 in late trade. Ricoh Co., Ltd. (T:7752) declined 4.08% or 48.0 points to end at 1128.0 and Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (T:6952) shed 3.57% or 61.0 points to 1650.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1994 to 1310 and 204 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.77% to 15.01.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.35% or 0.19 to $54.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.37% or 0.22 to hit $60.35 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.11% or 1.40 to trade at $1270.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.02% to 113.71, while EUR/JPY rose 0.09% to 132.06.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 94.70.
