Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Mining and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976), which rose 5.53% or 159.0 points to trade at 3035.0 at the close. The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503) added 4.22% or 66.0 points to end at 1630.5 and Ebara Corp. (T:6361) was up 4.09% or 135.0 points to 3435.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Konami Corp. (T:9766), which lost 3.30% or 190.0 points to trade at 5560.0 in late trade. Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:9983) declined 2.77% or 1430.0 points to end at 50210.0 and Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:9064) shed 2.76% or 93.0 points to 3280.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1786 to 1592 and 192 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 6.27% to 18.65.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.57% or 0.39 to $68.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.46% or 0.34 to hit $74.89 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.65% or 8.20 to trade at $1260.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.05% to 109.71, while EUR/JPY fell 0.31% to 128.07.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 94.13.
