Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 1.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MI:SPMI), which rose 3.38% or 0.0125 points to trade at 0.3827 at the close. Salvatore Ferragamo (MI:SFER) added 1.20% or 0.22 points to end at 18.56 and A2A (MI:A2) was up 0.93% or 0.011 points to 1.188 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which lost 13.99% or 0.0535 points to trade at 0.3290 in late trade. Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) declined 6.73% or 0.210 points to end at 2.910 and Mediaset (MI:MS) shed 4.56% or 0.146 points to 3.056.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 260 to 122 and 29 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.31% or 0.15 to $48.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.32% or 0.16 to hit $50.19 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.11% or 14.85 to trade at $1353.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1145, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8389.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 95.64.
