Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB lost 2.76% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte Paschi Siena (MILAN:BMPS), which rose 4.59% or 0.0255 points to trade at 0.5805 at the close. Saipem (MILAN:SPMI) added 2.08% or 0.25 points to end at 12.25 and Ansaldo STS (MILAN:STS) was down 0.26% or 0.03 points to 9.47 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fondiaria - Sai (MILAN:US), which lost 4.89% or 0.122 points to trade at 2.372 in late trade. Mediaset (MILAN:MS) declined 4.68% or 0.218 points to end at 4.442 and Telecom Italia (MILAN:TLIT) shed 4.41% or 0.048 points to 1.040.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 413 to 68 and 1 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.28% or 1.93 to $60.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 2.48% or 1.65 to hit $68.09 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.67% or 7.90 to trade at $1194.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1188, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.7366.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 95.21.
