Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB gained 0.55% to hit a new 3-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte Paschi Siena (MILAN:BMPS), which fell 2.34% or 0.0145 points to trade at 0.6045 at the close. Banco Popolare (MILAN:BAPO) added 0.21% or 0.0300 points to end at 14.3500 and Banca Popolare Milano (MILAN:PMII) was up 1.37% or 0.0130 points to 0.9630 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which added 3.00% or 0.33 points to trade at 11.32 in late trade. ENI (MILAN:ENI) added 0.53% or 0.09 points to end at 17.11 and CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI) shed 0.84% or 0.065 points to 7.710.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 309 to 178 and 3 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.39% or 0.20 to $51.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.25% or 0.15 to hit $59.10 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.43% or 5.20 to trade at $1199.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.0584, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.7211.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 99.71.
