Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB rose 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Mediolanum (MILAN:MED), which rose 2.73% or 0.205 points to trade at 7.725 at the close. Azimut Holding (MILAN:AZMT) added 2.46% or 0.65 points to end at 27.12 and Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MILAN:EMII) was up 1.97% or 0.145 points to 7.495 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Atlantia (MILAN:ATL), which lost 4.60% or 1.12 points to trade at 23.23 in late trade. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MILAN:FCHA) declined 3.32% or 0.440 points to end at 12.800 and Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU) shed 2.90% or 0.42 points to 14.08.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 284 to 198 and 3 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.21% or 0.73 to $61.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.81% or 0.55 to hit $68.06 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.36% or 4.30 to trade at $1188.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.34% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP rose 1.02% to 0.7441.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.04% at 94.28.
