Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Telecoms and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB gained 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were STMicroelectronics (MILAN:STM), which rose 2.12% or 0.155 points to trade at 7.450 at the close. Exor (MILAN:EXOR) added 2.01% or 0.88 points to end at 44.69 and Enel (MILAN:ENEI) was up 1.43% or 0.062 points to 4.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Monte Paschi Siena (MILAN:BMPS), which lost 6.52% or 0.6750 points to trade at 9.6750 in late trade. Azimut Holding (MILAN:AZMT) declined 5.01% or 1.44 points to end at 27.32 and Autogrill (MILAN:AGL) shed 2.25% or 0.20 points to 8.46.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 261 to 208 and 8 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.66% or 0.96 to $58.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.46% or 0.94 to hit $64.95 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.22% or 2.60 to trade at $1209.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.1092, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.7134.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 95.68.
