Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Chemicals and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 1.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (BIT:BMPS), which rose 6.70% or 0.29 points to trade at 4.68 at the close. Bper Banca SpA (BIT:EMII) added 5.83% or 0.28 points to end at 5.00 and UniCredit SpA (BIT:CRDI) was up 4.62% or 1.60 points to 36.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prysmian SpA (BIT:PRY), which lost 1.94% or 1.12 points to trade at 56.70 in late trade. STMicroelectronics (BIT:STMMI) declined 1.76% or 0.65 points to end at 36.22 and Davide Campari Milano SpA (BIT:CPRI) shed 1.59% or 0.14 points to 8.68.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 278 to 231 and 49 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.79% or 1.46 to $83.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.67% or 1.42 to hit $86.42 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.05% or 1.20 to trade at $2,338.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 105.58.
