Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Oil & Gas, Public Sector Undertakings and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 5.09% or 35.55 points to trade at 732.60 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 2.40% or 4.85 points to end at 207.15 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 2.15% or 15.55 points to 738.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL), which lost 5.52% or 16.05 points to trade at 275.10 in late trade. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 5.10% or 23.75 points to end at 443.20 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) shed 4.98% or 20.30 points to 389.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 2.36% to 738.50, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was up 1.39% to settle at 2299.20 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which gained 1.27% to close at 252.15.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 4.29% to 129.30 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 3.28% to settle at 151.85 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 2.43% to 237.20 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1024 to 569 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1505 fell and 1054 advanced, while 171 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.79% to 16.0325.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.25% or 3.25 to $1303.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.03% or 0.61 to hit $58.68 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.30 to trade at $67.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.19% to 68.881, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 78.1980.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 95.903.
