Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Power and Metals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.36%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI), which rose 3.23% or 11.50 points to trade at 367.05 at the close. Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) added 2.70% or 614.60 points to end at 23362.35 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 2.09% or 542.05 points to 26422.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which lost 2.25% or 2.00 points to trade at 86.70 in late trade. TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) declined 2.19% or 10.70 points to end at 477.40 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE) shed 1.86% or 6.20 points to 327.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 1.83% to 682.80, Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which was up 0.77% to settle at 3226.15 and Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which gained 0.74% to close at 1439.00.
The worst performers were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was down 2.12% to 477.95 in late trade, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which lost 2.06% to settle at 327.55 and Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.76% to 501.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1025 to 524 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1704 fell and 1109 advanced, while 123 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.04% to 11.6275.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.13% or 1.65 to $1275.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.54% or 0.29 to hit $53.69 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.62% or 0.35 to trade at $56.58 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 64.691, while EUR/INR rose 0.21% to 68.5931.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 100.65.
