Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Healthcare and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 2.23%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 2.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 1.87% or 1.50 points to trade at 81.85 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 0.33% or 7.40 points to end at 2245.95 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was down 0.26% or 2.85 points to 1111.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which lost 7.42% or 41.25 points to trade at 514.50 in late trade. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 5.78% or 12.35 points to end at 201.50 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) shed 5.76% or 12.95 points to 211.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 1.74% to 81.70, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 0.37% to settle at 2245.35 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 0.10% to close at 1113.85.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 7.34% to 515.00 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 5.69% to settle at 212.05 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 5.34% to 6194.95 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1483 to 177 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2213 fell and 458 advanced, while 133 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 24.46% to 22.8350.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.95 to $1972.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.28% or 0.55 to hit $43.52 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.44% or 0.66 to trade at $46.47 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.50% to 73.480, while EUR/INR rose 0.68% to 87.5845.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 92.312.
