Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Consumer Durables and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.51% to hit a new 52-week high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd . (NS:TAMO), which rose 7.07% or 38.85 points to trade at 588.70 at the close. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) added 6.14% or 21.60 points to end at 373.50 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK) was up 6.12% or 36.70 points to 635.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which lost 1.22% or 30.75 points to trade at 2484.05 in late trade. Coal India Limited (NS:COAL) declined 1.04% or 3.45 points to end at 328.85 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW) shed 0.63% or 0.50 points to 78.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which rose 7.19% to 589.35, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 6.14% to settle at 635.95 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which gained 4.25% to close at 272.45.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.17% to 2484.05 in late trade, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which lost 1.11% to settle at 328.80 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which was down 0.32% to 78.40 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 932 to 533 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1013 rose and 600 declined, while 73 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.47% to 12.7500 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.74% or 9.85 to $1336.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.06% or 0.47 to hit $44.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.32 to trade at $47.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 66.537, while EUR/INR rose 0.28% to 74.3110.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 95.59.
