Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.36%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which rose 6.03% or 65.25 points to trade at 1147.45 at the close. Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) added 2.75% or 4.80 points to end at 179.65 and Indiabulls (NS:INBF) was up 2.31% or 22.10 points to 979.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB), which lost 3.76% or 60.30 points to trade at 1545.15 in late trade. ICICI Bank Ltd . (NS:ICBK) declined 2.78% or 7.80 points to end at 272.75 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK) shed 2.30% or 11.50 points to 488.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 2.02% to 402.10, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which was up 1.83% to settle at 331.65 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which gained 1.82% to close at 1516.95.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was down 2.90% to 272.80 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 2.26% to settle at 487.95 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.28% to 655.85 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1065 to 496 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1779 rose and 1003 declined, while 149 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.36% to 11.5600.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.30% or 3.90 to $1279.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.94% or 0.48 to hit $51.33 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.04% or 0.55 to trade at $53.48 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 64.615, while EUR/INR rose 0.38% to 69.5255.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 99.47.
