Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 2.89%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 2.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 8.13% or 319.65 points to trade at 4,249.10 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) added 5.83% or 144.60 points to end at 2,624.45 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was up 5.15% or 30.90 points to 631.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM), which lost 0.97% or 215.15 points to trade at 22,001.20 in late trade. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) declined 0.71% or 5.75 points to end at 808.25 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) gained 0.53% or 1.20 points to 229.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 8.10% to 4,246.30, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 5.77% to settle at 2,622.15 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which gained 4.74% to close at 16,863.85.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 0.24% to 229.05 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 0.71% to settle at 3,293.90 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 0.91% to 149.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1530 to 318 and 32 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2425 rose and 813 declined, while 114 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.94% to 23.10.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.09% or 1.58 to $1,842.78 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.10% or 0.11 to hit $110.00 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.37 to trade at $112.41 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.16% to 77.56, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 82.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 102.86.
