Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Metals, Real Estate and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.12%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 5.99% or 14.95 points to trade at 264.45 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) added 5.24% or 21.50 points to end at 432.00 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was up 4.22% or 35.45 points to 875.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which lost 0.82% or 3.30 points to trade at 400.25 in late trade. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) declined 0.79% or 31.15 points to end at 3919.80 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC) shed 0.77% or 3.20 points to 414.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 3.82% to 872.50, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.59% to settle at 539.40 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 1.92% to close at 2548.55.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.17% to 398.70 in late trade, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which lost 0.46% to settle at 282.40 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 0.37% to 927.15 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1051 to 513 and 21 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1648 rose and 927 declined, while 120 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.86% to 11.0425 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.65% or 8.43 to $1297.33 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.05% or 0.54 to hit $50.76 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.48 to trade at $56.46 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.17% to 65.062, while EUR/INR fell 0.18% to 77.1350.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 92.89.
