Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.96% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 11.36% or 22.50 points to trade at 220.65 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 6.08% or 60.45 points to end at 1055.10 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 4.89% or 64.10 points to 1376.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which lost 2.45% or 17.50 points to trade at 695.65 in late trade. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) declined 2.02% or 185.50 points to end at 8986.10 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) shed 1.92% or 97.75 points to 4984.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 5.93% to 1053.45, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 4.72% to settle at 1373.70 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which gained 3.54% to close at 2747.30.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.90% to 4984.15 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 1.86% to settle at 1897.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 1.81% to 9004.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1021 to 665 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1627 fell and 1395 advanced, while 138 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 8.44% to 22.3825.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.75% or 13.80 to $1849.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.96% or 0.50 to hit $51.74 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.48% or 0.83 to trade at $55.16 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 73.433, while EUR/INR fell 0.33% to 89.3180.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 90.450.
