Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Capital Goods, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.85%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 3.12% or 5.50 points to trade at 182.05 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 3.02% or 4.15 points to end at 141.50 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 2.74% or 40.95 points to 1,535.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH), which lost 1.14% or 43.90 points to trade at 3,794.50 in late trade. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) declined 1.03% or 29.60 points to end at 2,848.30 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) shed 0.45% or 2.55 points to 558.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 2.69% to 1,535.60, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 2.67% to settle at 1,007.15 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 2.61% to close at 991.80.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 0.41% to 1,690.80 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 0.35% to settle at 2,491.95 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 0.07% to 2,044.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1392 to 450 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2292 rose and 1015 declined, while 150 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.21% to 21.00.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.58% or 10.65 to $1,840.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.20% or 0.22 to hit $107.84 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.46 to trade at $109.56 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.18% to 78.39, while EUR/INR rose 0.54% to 83.01.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 103.69.
