Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.78%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which rose 3.86% or 22.35 points to trade at 602.10 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 3.30% or 9.75 points to end at 305.40 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) was up 2.47% or 7.00 points to 290.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which lost 1.37% or 12.30 points to trade at 887.15 in late trade. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) declined 1.01% or 19.35 points to end at 1900.45 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) shed 1.08% or 324.25 points to 29712.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 3.73% to 601.35, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 3.32% to settle at 305.30 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which gained 2.80% to close at 179.80.
The worst performers were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 0.69% to 289.05 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 0.58% to settle at 1904.70 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 0.57% to 1308.45 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1323 to 310 and 26 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1900 rose and 716 declined, while 109 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.81% to 12.7775.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.12% or 1.50 to $1302.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.71% or 0.46 to hit $65.19 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.70 to trade at $76.06 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.40% to 67.085, while EUR/INR rose 0.79% to 79.3204.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 93.28.
