Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Real Estate and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.31% to hit a new 6-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.42%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 4.21% or 7.65 points to trade at 189.50 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 4.10% or 240.45 points to end at 6108.10 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 2.81% or 91.90 points to 3364.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which lost 7.06% or 26.55 points to trade at 349.40 in late trade. NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) declined 4.11% or 3.40 points to end at 79.25 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) shed 3.11% or 2.15 points to 66.95.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 3.87% to 6097.75, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 3.00% to settle at 3371.50 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 2.44% to close at 405.80.

The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 4.05% to 79.35 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 2.97% to settle at 67.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 2.18% to 848.50 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 907 to 697 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1409 fell and 1186 advanced, while 165 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.44% to 20.2100.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.48% or 9.05 to $1903.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.42% or 0.17 to hit $40.03 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.11 to trade at $42.34 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.10% to 73.328, while EUR/INR fell 0.16% to 86.0605.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 93.547.
