Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.20%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which rose 5.75% or 22.80 points to trade at 419.05 at the close. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 3.41% or 1028.10 points to end at 31213.30 and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN) was up 2.35% or 15.85 points to 691.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL), which lost 2.40% or 28.90 points to trade at 1173.90 in late trade. Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) declined 1.98% or 5.65 points to end at 280.25 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) shed 1.89% or 44.90 points to 2330.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 5.79% to 419.10, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was up 2.34% to settle at 3105.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.63% to close at 388.65.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 2.37% to 1175.15 in late trade, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which lost 1.71% to settle at 280.95 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.67% to 2437.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1026 to 540 and 14 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1546 rose and 883 declined, while 176 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.22% to 12.4850.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.23% or 2.95 to $1291.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.14% or 0.07 to hit $51.63 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $57.16 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 65.355, while EUR/INR fell 0.04% to 77.1357.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 92.94.
