Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.19%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 3.40% or 37.05 points to trade at 1,126.65 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 2.60% or 28.85 points to end at 1,137.15 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was up 2.46% or 21.80 points to 906.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC), which lost 1.97% or 136.00 points to trade at 6,783.65 in late trade. SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL) declined 1.54% or 20.25 points to end at 1,297.45 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) shed 1.51% or 19.90 points to 1,302.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 3.32% to 1,126.55, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.60% to settle at 1,136.90 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 2.43% to close at 1,511.85.
The worst performers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 1.94% to 6,784.05 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 1.41% to settle at 1,302.60 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 1.26% to 1,949.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1064 to 761 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1709 fell and 1594 advanced, while 122 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.21% to 17.72.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.10% or 18.90 to $1,739.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.84% or 1.54 to hit $85.08 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.86% or 1.66 to trade at $90.81 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.19% to 79.56, while EUR/INR rose 0.79% to 80.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.06% at 108.54.
