Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Metals and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 5.55% or 7.85 points to trade at 149.35 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.12% or 13.60 points to end at 343.55 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 2.71% or 29.30 points to 1,112.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which lost 3.54% or 72.25 points to trade at 1,968.05 in late trade. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 3.35% or 94.45 points to end at 2,726.50 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) shed 1.94% or 225.15 points to 11,370.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 2.78% to 1,112.15, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 1.49% to settle at 2,529.00 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 1.41% to close at 4,377.95.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 3.54% to 1,968.10 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 3.25% to settle at 2,728.90 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 1.94% to 11,370.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 975 to 839 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1726 rose and 1438 declined, while 134 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.12% to 21.45.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.01% or 0.20 to $1,824.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.71% or 1.87 to hit $111.44 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 2.16 to trade at $113.14 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.52% to 78.84, while EUR/INR rose 0.56% to 83.46.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 103.74.
