Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Auto and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Formosa Lab (TW:4746), which rose 9.97% or 6.90 points to trade at 76.10 at the close. Logah (TW:3593) added 9.97% or 0.89 points to end at 9.82 and Nuvoton (TW:4919) was up 9.94% or 3.50 points to 38.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which lost 8.18% or 0.45 points to trade at 5.05 in late trade. Nantex Industr (TW:2108) declined 6.02% or 1.65 points to end at 25.75 and Hannstar Touch (TW:3049) shed 5.59% or 0.45 points to 7.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 496 to 341 and 4 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.86% or 0.34 to $39.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.01% or 0.43 to hit $42.78 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.50 to trade at $1084.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.26% to 32.734, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1948.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 98.41.
