Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Financials and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 13.32% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 4.40% or 0.0330 points to trade at 0.7830 at the close. Elton S.A. (AT:ELNr) added 3.21% or 0.029 points to end at 0.932 and Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) was up 0.74% or 0.001 points to 0.136 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr), which lost 30.00% or 0.264 points to trade at 0.616 in late trade. Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) declined 29.66% or 0.700 points to end at 1.660 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) shed 29.60% or 0.074 points to 0.176.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 102 to 11 and 5 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 4.26% or 53.75 to $1316.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.31% or 2.16 to hit $47.95 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 4.50% or 2.29 to trade at $48.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 2.35% to 1.1115, while EUR/GBP rose 6.37% to 0.8138.
The US Dollar Index was up 2.35% at 95.52.
