Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Banking and Food sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which rose 21.90% or 0.023 points to trade at 0.128 at the close. Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) added 7.73% or 0.1700 points to end at 2.3700 and Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr) was up 4.99% or 0.0380 points to 0.8000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which lost 9.56% or 0.013 points to trade at 0.123 in late trade. Hygeia (AT:HYGr) declined 6.37% or 0.010 points to end at 0.147 and Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) shed 3.76% or 0.005 points to 0.128.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 52 to 33 and 14 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.81% or 10.75 to $1320.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.01% or 0.45 to hit $44.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.48 to trade at $45.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.43% to 1.0979, while EUR/GBP rose 0.56% to 0.8380.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 97.44.
