Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 2.45% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Revoil Petrol (AT:REVr), which rose 12.50% or 0.070 points to trade at 0.630 at the close. Select Textile (AT:EPIr) added 9.27% or 0.014 points to end at 0.165 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 8.59% or 0.0640 points to 0.8090 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr), which lost 5.50% or 0.002 points to trade at 0.028 in late trade. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 3.75% or 0.0060 points to end at 0.1540 and Petros Petropoulos SA (AT:PTRr) shed 2.28% or 0.120 points to 5.140.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 82 to 35 and 11 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.54% or 6.80 to $1255.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $56.64 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.75% or 0.47 to trade at $62.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.44% to 1.1774, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.8771.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 93.71.
