Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Retail and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 2.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which rose 7.38% or 0.007 points to trade at 0.096 at the close. Intralot (AT:INLr) added 6.83% or 0.047 points to end at 0.735 and Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) was up 6.41% or 0.100 points to 1.660 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which lost 5.65% or 0.0056 points to trade at 0.0936 in late trade. European Reliance General Insurance Co SA (AT:EREr) declined 3.24% or 0.110 points to end at 3.280 and K.L.M. (AT:KLUr) shed 2.94% or 0.020 points to 0.660.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 79 to 27 and 8 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 1.90 to $1201.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.61% or 1.72 to hit $67.56 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.34% or 1.70 to trade at $74.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.26% to 1.1600, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8984.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 95.00.
