Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction, Travel and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.92% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 5.91% or 0.13 points to trade at 2.33 at the close. Cars Motorcycles and Marine Engine Trade and Import Company SA (AT:MTDr) added 3.36% or 0.09 points to end at 2.77 and Crete Plastics SA (AT:PLAKR) was up 2.86% or 0.40 points to 14.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lavipharm SA (AT:LPHr), which lost 1.76% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.78 in late trade. Thessaloniki Water and Sewage Co SA (AT:TWSr) declined 1.23% or 0.04 points to end at 3.22 and Fourlis Hld (AT:FRLr) shed 1.07% or 0.04 points to 3.71.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 88 to 32 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.86% or 22.39 to $2,640.49 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.96% or 0.68 to hit $71.67 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.84% or 0.62 to trade at $74.61 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 108.21.
