Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.55% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT:ELHA), which rose 3.83% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.95 at the close. Crete Plastics SA (AT:PLAKR) added 3.45% or 0.50 points to end at 15.00 and Piraeus Port (AT:OLPr) was up 2.94% or 0.80 points to 28.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which lost 2.37% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.37 in late trade. Quality and Reliability SA (AT:QUAr) declined 1.77% or 0.02 points to end at 1.22 and Dimand Societe Anonyme for Real Estate Constructions (AT:DIMANDr) shed 1.47% or 0.14 points to 9.39.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 52 and 27 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.18% or 4.75 to $2,681.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.44% or 1.03 to hit $70.53 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.05% or 0.78 to trade at $73.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 100.33.
