Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Insurance and Software sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Technology and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.39%, while the MDAX index declined 0.29%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 2.99% or 0.365 points to trade at 12.560 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 2.05% or 0.199 points to end at 9.894 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 1.74% or 0.445 points to 25.965 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which lost 2.14% or 2.200 points to trade at 100.600 in late trade. K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) declined 1.32% or 0.315 points to end at 23.600 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 0.99% or 0.110 points to 10.995.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which rose 4.04% to 33.720, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was up 2.56% to settle at 58.550 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which gained 2.52% to close at 26.880.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 11.07% to 90.890 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which lost 4.65% to settle at 65.690 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 4.53% to 32.250 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which rose 3.67% to 1.639, Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which was up 3.31% to settle at 25.000 and Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which gained 2.77% to close at 46.155.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 3.29% to 5.110 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which lost 2.72% to settle at 8.007 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 1.40% to 38.755 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 411 to 269 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.97% to 20.86.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.58% or 6.90 to $1180.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.63% or 0.29 to hit $46.67 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.18 to trade at $49.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.1368, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.7360.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 94.68.
