Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Resources and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.72%, while the MDAX index declined 0.52%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 3.59% or 0.380 points to trade at 10.970 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 1.24% or 0.160 points to end at 13.110 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 1.08% or 0.069 points to 6.445 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which lost 2.76% or 4.250 points to trade at 150.000 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 2.70% or 0.400 points to end at 14.420 and Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn) shed 1.80% or 1.950 points to 106.250.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 2.91% to 5.41, Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was up 1.64% to settle at 55.340 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which gained 0.80% to close at 26.990.
The worst performers were Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which was down 2.83% to 47.650 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 2.49% to settle at 88.440 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was down 2.46% to 87.920 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 5.99% to 23.640, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 3.60% to settle at 41.18 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 2.82% to close at 9.562.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 3.55% to 31.065 in late trade, Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which lost 1.85% to settle at 36.250 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 1.78% to 32.780 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 555 to 327 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.98% to 17.03 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.51% or 6.85 to $1342.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.74% or 1.70 to hit $47.20 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.48% or 1.67 to trade at $49.65 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1254, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.8461.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 95.03.
