Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services, Food & Beverages and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.49%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.71%, and the TecDAX index climbed 2.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn), which rose 4.38% or 3.500 points to trade at 83.320 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) added 3.33% or 0.950 points to end at 29.480 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 2.85% or 1.510 points to 54.470 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG), which lost 0.24% or 0.230 points to trade at 94.970 in late trade. Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) declined 0.09% or 0.100 points to end at 106.550 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) shed 0.05% or 0.020 points to 37.995.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which rose 4.46% to 14.050, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was up 4.29% to settle at 32.555 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (XETRA:STAGn) which gained 3.65% to close at 32.795.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG O.N. (XETRA:FIEG) which was down 1.13% to 60.230 in late trade, Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which lost 0.96% to settle at 35.455 and A.Springer AG VNA (XETRA:SPRGn) which was down 0.34% to 49.850 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which rose 6.32% to 177.550, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 5.58% to settle at 34.745 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which gained 5.57% to close at 98.030.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 2.76% to 5.244 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which lost 0.70% to settle at 33.900 and Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 0.50% to 35.075 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 626 to 130 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 22.18% to 20.73 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.15% or 1.70 to $1156.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.61% or 0.32 to hit $53.06 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.07 to trade at $59.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.14% to 1.1031, while EUR/GBP fell 1.15% to 0.7106.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.85% at 96.78.
