Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Media, Transportation & Logistics and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.08%, while the MDAX index added 1.39%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG), which rose 2.60% or 2.950 points to trade at 116.200 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) added 2.59% or 5.700 points to end at 225.550 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) was up 2.15% or 0.675 points to 32.125 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG), which lost 1.13% or 0.285 points to trade at 24.905 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) declined 0.11% or 0.015 points to end at 13.235 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) gained 0.10% or 0.200 points to 203.000.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which rose 4.12% to 48.010, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which was up 3.02% to settle at 50.580 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (XETRA:STAGn) which gained 2.91% to close at 33.275.
The worst performers were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which was down 1.01% to 46.130 in late trade, Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which lost 0.76% to settle at 70.870 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 0.64% to 28.635 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which rose 4.84% to 41.030, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was up 3.80% to settle at 49.495 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which gained 3.54% to close at 13.290.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 0.39% to 38.235 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which lost 0.26% to settle at 113.100 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which was down 0.09% to 5.385 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 572 to 161 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 8.84% to 17.32.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.70% or 8.40 to $1194.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.49% or 0.75 to hit $51.17 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.78% or 1.54 to trade at $57.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.07% to 1.0665, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.7241.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.91% at 99.15.
